Hats, Hats, Hats!

Hi friends! I just wanted to share a bit about where God has been leading me lately in my creativity and it’s to making fun themed hats! Yes, I make “normal” hats (knitted and crocheted) that I sell in my Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/DMPaulArt) but I’m having a blast and feeling so inspired. I’m doing little vignettes where I design the hat, then make the hat, then paint the hat!

My first one was called, “The Happy Peepster,” and here’s a pic of the vignette:

I have been crocheting and knitting for years and years and now painting for years as well. I have an equal love for both yarn work and watercolors and figured I could put the two together like this, and I love it! Isn’t that little peep dude cute?

The next hat I made is called, “Teagarden,” and here she is:

I have to admit, designing things like this can go a little wonky and this hat is spectacularly big! I had fun designing the graph for this hat, the latte art on top and picking what style of flowers to put on the rim. I also embroidered in some details.

The second pic above is a hat I didn’t plan out and it evolved when I was feeling creative one afternoon. I wanted to make something with this phenomenal bright yarn, and I’m calling it, “The Hobbit Hat,” even though my friend reminded me it looks more like Gandolf’s hat – in a much brighter shade of course. I haven’t created a vignette with it yet, but I still hope to paint it and the color scheme will be different than the light colors I’ve been using. I just love color so much! I also already have ideas for my next three themed hats and I can’t wait to make them!

Thanks for tuning in and I hope seeing my new artsy hats gives you as much joy as they do me. I also things are heating up and looking good for you wherever you are. God bless!
