| I can’t believe it’s already July-this year is flying by! God is always so good to me and I’m so excited to announce that this fall I will be opening a brick and mortar boutique! A company called “Painted Tree Boutiques” is opening a new store here in Lincoln, Nebraska, and I have signed up to rent a space there. I have been busy creating products and designing display items and it’s so exciting. I will still have my Etsy shop online at https://www.etsy.com/shop/DMPaulArt as well, so it’s ALL good. Speaking of my Etsy shop, I have released a new mug design that you can check out there: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1744417565/black-floral-doodle-coffee-mug-15oz As this past winter transitioned into spring, one day I was feeling a bit blue and so I sat down and really contemplated what kind of art I wanted to make going forward. Something that would lift my spirits. I thought it would need to include bright bold colors as well as flowers for spring, but as I drew, I discovered that I really enjoy the process of making patterns. When after all these years I finally took the time to determine what I like to do as an artist, it turns out that DOODLING is my jam! I never knew how calming and satisfying it could be, especially for someone like me with ADHD. It gives me something to do with my hands which makes focusing my mind much easier. I don’t Zentangle, as that is a specific process, I just doodle-mostly lines, dots, and circles, and the art comes out very unique. The implementation of doodling in my life has set a new course for my Bible study and art practice, and so I now have a crazy mission to make doodle art videos to help others. I’ve been focusing on Bible verses and passages, praising God through worship music, and praying with and for others through this process of doodling. With that said, another thing I’m super excited about, is that I will be releasing the first video in my new series at my YouTube channel THIS SATURDAY! I’ve been posting some sneak peaks on my Instagram and Facebook pages, but to watch the video you can see it here: https://youtu.be/fj92WHtwSt4 As I write this latest newsletter, I am finishing the 16th video in the series! I bought the above mannequin off of Facebook Marketplace. The wood topper was broken and the black lace was ripped up in the back, so I removed everything down to the basic fiberglass mold and then painted, collaged, and painted again. I love the artsy textured, yet neutral, look that it turned out to have and think it will be a great model for my knitted scarves. Below is a heavy table that I also bought off Marketplace and I chalk painted and waxed it. I love how it turned out as well.    In the photo below you can see tiered trays I made and washing cloths that are ready to sell in the shop.  The store is looking to open in late September, so I’ve been working on a few fall Chunky Punkys too!   My mom often tells me I look at the world through rose-colored glasses. I’ll take that, and as proof, I wanted to share my happy friend, Rosey, with a new mug from my collection!  Welp! That’s all for now. I’ll be keeping you updated as I go along.
