Now that I have decided to embrace my passion for writing and stick with it, I am going to try my hand at NaNoWriMo this year! NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write at least 1667 per day for the whole month of November which would create a novel of approximately 50,000 words. This is a creative muscle exercise. 1667 is a lot of words. Per day. For a month. Whew…
I have already drawn out my bubble chart. I am going to take a hiatus from “Wake Up, Sleeper!” during November to do either a children’s chapter book or a set of younge-aged books, or both! Like I said, 1667 words is many words – too many for even one picture book really, so I could get maybe sixty picture books written…maybe I’ll stick with a chapter book!
NaNoWriMo is a non-profit website for aspiring writers like me that we can join to count our words, gather success badges, find inspiration and work with buddies. If you want to check it out, you can do so here: http://nanowrimo.org and then let me know you joined so that we can hold each other accountable. It’s “motivational” and I am nervous, but I have confidence. Muscle. Creativity. Motivation. Accountability. Friends. Sounds fun!
